How do you manage to find those things to take photos off?
I once watched a cocoon for several days in the hope to catch it to open, but I still missed it.
What's your secret?

i found all the larvas at the border of ponds or marsh in the early morning. the whole process takes about one hour. i think that you found an empty cocoon, because the molting begins at the same morning when the larvas get out of the water
